I think it is great that you and Liz worked out our differences and in the end you all became friends.

Jesssica may need help, and if I was her I would talk to Marciela in private instead of blurting it out infront of the whole house.

Why did Jessica call out Liz. On television Liz never said anything mean to or about Jessica so who is she to call her out??

It stinks the show is over..... now I have no excuse to stay up late. :(

I heard about Tom and Kara and that stinks to. I think and so do alot of other people that they belong together.And it's never to late to be with the one you love.I have to say You, Tom and Kara were my favorites.

It was super sweet for Lynette to kiss Andrew that made his life.

And like he said "Just be yourself"

I hope you and the rest of the cast have a wonderful year.

P.S. You and Chad make a super cute couple :)

I enjoyed HSR88. It seemed like you and Tom were the two leaders when it came to tough situations (deciding whether to kick Dennis out the house and Jessica leaving). I liked the way you both handled those situations. You listed the accomplishments, nothing about Jessica. I know what she did was wrong but she needs friends and some professional help. Yes, even though this is a year later she can still use friends and seek help. I am glad that you kept in tough with Scott H., because I hated to see him leave. I thought for sure he would have returned at some point. Tom and Kara also need some professional help. I was pleased at the end when they decided to give their relationship another try (I was so happy for them). They still can (I hear they aren't together), even though this is a year later they can still seek help together and make this work (I hope they do). Whether they realize it or not they love each other more than just friends and I personally hope they get back together and this time for good (but they need that help). Tom and Kara, get back together. Scott take care and I am sure all the classmates see you as a good friend.

I'm glad you and Liz are now friends and I hope you two will remain friends forever. You said you share the same sad story as Jessica (about your fathers). Suggest she see a therapist and hopefully you will be there to support her. She needs help. Was glad to see Tom and Kara get back together and now I hear they are not together and I am disapointed. Tom and Kara love each other and not just as friends either. They just don't know how to handle it. I think they belong together and I am not the only one that thinks that. I think the two of them should get together and pray over this and seek counseling. It is not too late for them to get back together and it will never be too late for them to get back together. Let's all pray for Jessica, and Tom & Kara.

It does seem like you could have in some perspective put in one positive thing to write about Jessica. You did so for Maricela and she was at least one half if not more of this very troubling and controversial issue. It might seem that the alienation of Jessica continues. I hope not.

Hi, Liz! I'm a class of '88 girl too - from Westlake High School in Austin, TX. I was very impressed with how you handled yourself on the show and it made my heart soar when they crowned you prom queen. Acceptance is something we all crave and it's so hard to find in high school, especially from those individuals you admired but couldn't get close to. Reunions have a funny way of clarifying just how dumb we were back then and how badly we got it wrong when we handed out he "value vouchers" to the most popular kids, as we saw them then.

The only thing I have to call to task about your blog is the Maricela/Jessica situation. I don't think it was necessarily Jessica's place to call Maricela out about being a prostitue, whether it was a former job or current. However, when I put myself in Jessica's shoes and think about the fact that I was friends with Maricela (even if we hadn't been close for 20 years), I kept her secret and was supportive of her and then watched her behaving in a manner that I knew to be fake, I would have had a very difficult time with that. On top of that, knowing that one of my former classmates might be falling for her and may do things with her on this show that could; 1) endanger his health if there had been unprotected sex or "accidents" in her former profession, and; 2) might prove to be very embarrassing to him in the long run if this secret eventually came out afterward. Those two considerations, alone, might make me want to address this situation, thought I have to say I would have done so privately. So, I put both of these thoughts together in my head and go back and watch the episodes leading up to the blow-up over again, and I begin to see that "prudish" behavior that Jessica accused Maricela of portraying, and I begin to think that there may be ulterior motives to Maricela hooking up with Scott at this reunion that may have forced me to confront a very ugly truth rather than see my classmate(s) getting played by someone who is so clearly playing a game.

The one thing that speaks volumes to me, above all else, is the fact that Maricela did more dodging, ducking and diving of this question than a tin duck in a shooting gallery. The fact that she could never simply say, "I am not a prostitute now, nor have I ever been a prostitute" Simple as that. Done. But she couldn't do that. I don't care that it may have "shocked" her or that she might have been caught off guard. She had plenty of chances to answer, especially when Scott asked her point blank on the couch. She just kept giving this whole spiel about being educated and how her friends "know her" and "know her character now." That's such *&^%$#!! If someone accuses you of something this big, you face it straight on with an answer that leaves absolutely NO questions. Even if it's something you don't want known, then at least face everyone in the reunion and tell them that you made mistakes in your past and do not want to confirm or deny exactly which ones they are or if they involve prostituion, but you would understand that not giving that clear answer means that you should probably remove yourself from the situation due to the discomfort the privacy of this issue may cause those around you. That would have been the classy and I could have had respect for her. But, she didn't do that. She kept avoiding the question and even told Scott that he was less of a person for even asking her about it, which is appalling to me. If he's investing his heart, emotions and physical being into this, HE definitely deserves to know. Jessica might be flighty and a little crazy, but at least she wasn't playing with Scott's heart and his well being. OK....enough said. I thought you were great. I love Tom and Kara and hope they make it. You were all wonderful to see and watch. Have a fabulous year!

Your blog is really nice, and seems to be very sincere. I know what it's like to reconnect with classmates, and it's great! But one of the things you wrote "Originally, I envisioned peace and harmony in Kauai: What was I thinking?!" makes me wonder if you'd ever seen a reality show. If all goes well with "peace and harmony", there is no show. As you already know, there is a very thorough backgrond check done on anyone who agrees to do a reality show. As a result, Maricela's history was found. One scenario could be that Jessica probably didn't know this before show, but the info was "leaked" to her when the producer(s) saw that there was a problem/dissension between Jessica and Maricela. Then you have just what an audience would want to see!! Nevertheless, it takes a lot of courage to do a reality show (I would never) and it's great that in the end it turned out well for you. You seem to be such a nice guy. Guess I'll have to watch the last episode!! Hey, are any of the others going to post blogs?

After reading your post, I will watch the final episode. I cannot imagine that any of the invited guests felt that it would be just like when you all were in high school. We all grow up, we change, and friendships desolve as we grow apart. I'm sure as time goes on, most of you will not see each other again, and probably don't want to see each other!! I just have to say that I was really annoyed with Maricela right from the start; she seemed as though she were acting like something she isn't. People will do this when they haven't fared so well in life but want to make an impression. Another red flag with her was when she felt like she was heading towards a relationship (in less than 2 weeks!) with a man she hadn't seen in 20 years. Will any of the others post on this site? I'm guessing that more than a few wish they'd never done a reality show and just want to forget the whole thing.

Hey Scott...

The show was a lot of fun to watch. Over the years I've been fortunate to maintain friendships from College and Beyond, but a core group of my friends still date back to the 80's when I was in high school. It was a lot of fun to watch you all enjoy yourselves and to see each other grow. I had a real "reaction" to Dennis and I'm glad that Shalonda and the rest of the HSRers didn't 'vote him off the island'. It was a really interesting journey to see him make ammends for his entrance, to give Tom and Kara a fair chance to explore their relationship, and to take Drew under his wing.

Sure, the drama was played up at times, but it was just a lot of fun to see you all living it up twenty years later. As I said, I'm fortunate to be in touch with my core group of HS friends, but watching the show made me think about some of the other folks from my class. Makes me want to hit Facebook and Google and see what everyone is up to. Anyway, thanks for your own insight on the Reunion, and for letting us be honorary members of the Class of 88.

Hey Jenny...

Wanted to say how much I enjoyed the show. Thanks to you and all of the HSRers for letting us tag along. My twenty year would have been in 2006, but my class never had much of a nucleus. Watching you all got me to thinking aboout who would have been picked. I guess I'm fortunate in that I keep up with the folks from HS who have had an impact in my life - both then, and now. I've even been able to catch up with a few of my acquaintainces via Facebook and the wonders of the Internet.

So thanks to all of you for making us honorary members of the Clas of 88, and for sharing some additional insights into the show.

I don't watch tv that often...but one night I happened to see a clip of HSR & thought "cool idea" for a show.Being born & raised in Arizona & also attending high school in the 80's as well....this show brought back so many memories.People as a whole don't realize how powerful words can be & how they can impact someones life.In a positive way & negative as well.At that stage of a persons life you're still learning & trying to figure out who you are.With all the insecurities & doubts it's definitely one of the toughtest stages of a persons life.A word said or an action taken can stay with a person for a lifetime.I totally enjoyed watching this series.I have to give serious props to (1) Andrew-.for finally being able to tell Lynette how you've always felt about her & setting your heart free (2) Scott W. -for having the compassion to see a person for who they are & not what they were "a soul is a soul" very cool!!!! (3) Tom- for showing that we as men can let our emotions out & for remembering the reasons why you married Kara & moving forward & trying again. So many props can be given to the other classmates as well.....best wishes to you all.

Seriously, you guys were all brave to go on this show, and thank you all for being honest and going with it. It actually made me feel better about myself, about making mistakes, and about letting go the teenage past. I think this show is way better than The Real World or something insipid with young people on it, although some of the drama was pure teenage (jealousy, crushes, fights). I appreciate seeing 37 year olds have the wisdom, even when their age old dramas crop up.

Seriously, this is one of the most real reality shows I've seen in a long time. I've only seen this season...in a few words, I'm just grateful.

Well put Scott, you seem to be one classy guy, and a true friend. If you could, would you do this experience again, but without the cameras? It seems like a lot of stuff was cut and pasted to make for good TV, but may not have portrayed you and your friends in the right way.
