Maybe the PR&CE board should just disappear.  It doesn't seem that there is any topic that can be discussed there without passionate opposition.  Most nonpolitical forums will have a PR&CE type board, with the understanding that there are a few topics off limits, such as abortion.  Its a hot button topic, nobody is going to be swayed in either direction, and there's just no point attempting to discuss it civilly or otherwise.  It seems in these times, no political topic can be discussed, every topic is a hot button, and nobody is going to entertain an opposing viewpoint, no matter how well-spoken the comment, or how exhaustively researched its content.  Even the most ill-informed poster will defend their position vehemently, even in the face of overwhelming evidence.  There is no reason to even attempt a debate with them.  Its the political climate we're living in, and its reflected on that board.

Personally, I'd rather not know that someone is ill-informed, willfully misinformed, or just plain loony.  Being crazy is fine if you're chatting about I Love Lucy, but when you're trying to push an agenda on others, and looking for confirmation from your friends, then it becomes an issue. 

This forum, like Classic TV, should be an escape, not a place to be constantly reminded how *&^%$# up the country is, or how ignorant and hateful people can be.

Something folks overlook when speaking of the PR&CE board, if folks didn't like the "discussions" we would not continue to participate in them.  And I think that often the powers that be do not recognize this, perhaps I am a minority on this feeling but I hold no ill feelings towards those who disagree with my thoughts on the subjects being discussed.  My feelings generally don't get hurt by the thoughts of other posters and I gain some interesting insights from the thoughts and opinions of fellow posters, both those who agree and those who disagree.  One CAN'T take things so very personally when having political and or religious discussions, one has to be thick skinned.  I DON'T like it when folks aren't treated equally when they express their opinions and I especially dislike it when our freedom of speech is stepped upon and denied to us on the forums because our thoughts don't follow the accepted party line.  And as someone pointed out it is hard to post when you have been banned over something trivial.  Folks might be more inclined to join discussions if they didnt feel so restricted by the ever changing rules of the boards.

I for one know that some peoples lives change. I started school myself and only get a chance to get on about once or twice a week. Sometimes I only read and don't post. I'll admit I used to almost never miss a day getting on the boards but things change. I used to get on the TAGS board a lot but almost never get on there anymore. I think I've posted on that board once in a month and a half. Part reason is time and the other is some of the subjects on the TAGS board are just plain not interesting. Its nothing against anybody on the TAGS board. I have some good friends on the TAGS board but some of the posters put some pretty silly subjects on there that the only comment I could come up with would come off as a complete smart alleck. So I just don't post anything. I do think like a previous poster said that sometimes people get tired of the boards. The same subjects come up from time to time and there are probably certain posters you just don't like. I'm sure there are a few people I've rubbed the wrong way and don't care for me. Believe me it's not intentional to get people mad at me. But I am who I am. My grandfather told me a long time ago. Be yourself, people might not always like you, but be yourself. So thats what I do, I be myself. One thing the board has done for me is meet some of the best people in the world. I know Deb and I kid a lot and have built a good friendship. As well as my girlfriend txbabe. Whom I always call my girlfriend. LOL She knows I love her. The list goes on an on from talking Rock and Roll to my buddy Renegade and Dblj and I giving phonerec a hard time. These are friendships I truly enjoy. I've also heard that TVLand might shut the boards down too. Don't know how much truth is in that, but maybe thats why some people don't come on as much if they think the boards won't last much longer so whats the point. Who knows. Anywho I've babbled enough.
