SGTL Winner Tanya Recalls Her Audition Butterflie s - Season One
It's hard to believe that it's been a year since my friend sent me a link to the TV Land website and told me to apply for She's Got the Look. Now it's your turn.
From the first audition to the final episode of She's Got the Look it was very intense. My emotions were like a roller coaster. There were times when I felt so confident that I had what it took to win the title to moments when I would question whether or not the judges noticed my beauty. The judges challenged us in every aspect to see if we could take direction and criticism -- and ultimately win.
I know that the final decision was a tough call to make for the judges, but I'm so glad I was the last person
standing. I can vividly remember when supermodel Kim Alexis announced, "TANYA, YOU'VE GOT THE LOOK!" I was exhausted and elated all at the same time. It's a moment when all the wrong I had done was now made right. It didn't matter that I never won a "leg up challenge," it didn't matter that my nude photo shoot looked horrible or that my acting skills left a little to be desired. All that mattered to me at that moment was that I had taken a chance -- and the odds worked in my favor!
The most intriguing part about the show is the suspense of not knowing what's going to happen next. Everything was kept a secret and the contestants were constantly guessing as to what would unfold next. There is lots of suspense and drama each step of the way. Celebrity guests magically appear and share a beauty tip or challenge the models in the competition.
I went from dreading the elimination process to wishing it would never end. The competition became a game and the object was to be the last person standing and be the final face on the She's Got the Look Model Board.
I'm so glad that I took the time to fill out the questionnaire, submit photos and stand in the hot sun for hours. The most challenging part of being on the show was the long hours that we worked and filmed. The best part about being on the show is making guest appearances on talk shows and doing press interviews on behalf of TV Land. Meeting all the ladies and getting to know their personal accomplishments was rewarding, too. They are all unique and will always have a special place in my heart. I also connected with lots of ladies while standing in line at the casting.

Finalist_Shelly
- Shelly is a striking divorcee and single mother from Ohio who says she's ready to conquer the world of modeling. Having been discouraged in the past, now she's free to go for it. She describes herself as 'a little bit of everything: crazy, bitchy, loud, quiet, nice, mean, smart, dumb, etc.,' and believes she'd be a great model because she's photogenic, and not the 'diva type.' Shelly names Christie Brinkley as a great inspiration, and defines beauty as 'being confident that you are being the best that you can be'. Shelly considers her two kids to be her biggest achievement, and is hoping to make them proud.

FinalistTheresa
- Theresa is an elegant mother of twin boys and lives in La Canada, Calif. A recent divorcee, Theresa is pursuing her lifelong dream of modeling more seriously than ever as a way to start a new life for her family. She calls her twin boys her biggest achievement, and feels the most beautiful when they're hugging her. She describes herself as a hard worker and a true professional who's also giving and hungry. She believes that beauty is something that comes from within since 'you can always fix the outside'. Most people would be surprised to know that Theresa is a self-proclaimed tomboy who loves motorcycles and horseback riding - and for whom becoming a full-time, working model would mean a great deal, and the beginning of a brand-new life.

Finalist_Raquel
- Raquel is a stand-out mother of three from Clinton, Md. who describes herself as a motivator who at times 'believes in others more than in herself.' Now that she has served her country as an officer in the U.S. military, Raquel feels its time to make her modeling dream a reality. She feels her most beautiful when she's in front of the camera and describes beauty as something that comes from being happy with oneself and comfortable in your own skin. She thinks (and has been told) that her best physical feature is her behind. She claims her biggest achievement to be her family, and names Iman as her favorite model because she is a wife, mother and entrepreneur.
