When I was asked to go to the set of She's Got the Look to help prep the candidates for a photo shoot, I was a little daunted. It's a tall order to give beauty tips to 10 women who have been chosen from among thousands for their great looks. Obviously they already know a great deal about looking gorgeous! But these women have at least one thing in common with SELF’s readers: They’re busy women who want their beauty moments to do double duty, making them look and feel fantastic — like a naturally beautiful, as-pretty-as-possible version of themselves.  The key to making your skin glow and your hair shine is to get rid of impurities (via cleansing and exfoliating) and then hydrate to bring in fullness and radiance. With this in mind I decided to have the She's Got the Look candidates whip up SELF’s simple recipe for a face mask, using basic ingredients that can be found in the kitchen. Here’s my recipe for the yogurt-oatmeal face glow mask. (P.S.: It’s edible, so if you’re tempted to lick your lips, go ahead!)

Mix equal parts honey, uncooked oatmeal and plain yogurt, and apply to face. Honey is a humectant, meaning it draws moisture into the skin. It also contains a high level of nourishing potassium and has antibacterial properties. Oatmeal is a natural exfoliant that calms redness while cleansing, while yogurt is a mild astringent, ridding skin of impurities while also hydrating. It's like a healthy breakfast for your skin, and after you slather it on, you can kick back for a few minutes before gently rinsing it off with warm water, so you’re getting a twofer: great skin and a quiet moment for yourself.
