Country music singer/songwriter Brad Paisley is currently charting a new single featured in his latest album, "Time Well Wasted." But in his music video of the song, Brad isn't the only one "Waitin' on a Woman." TV Land star Andy Griffith – dressed in folksy bib overalls and looking like he just got back from Mayberry's fishin' hole with Opie – shares a park bench and some lyrics with the Grammy winner.

Andy, looking older and grayer but with that same mile-wide infectious smile, trades verses with Brad, admitting that: "Since 1952, I've been waitin' on a woman." Funny, I could've sworn Andy made "an honest woman" out of longtime squeeze Helen Crump back when DeSoto's still had expansive backseats for necking and Floyd the barber was doling out crew-cuts for 95 cents a pop.

Ripping a page from Henry Higgins's "My Fair Lady" playbook, Andy speaks his lyrics while Brad trills and twangs. But don't forget, Griffith could strum a mean guitar in his heyday and he cut his showbiz teeth via shambling comic monologues ( "What It Was, Was Football" )  that were recorded on, (gulp!) archaic LPs.

Anyhow, it's nice to see the crown prince of country pay homage to elder statesman Griffith with easygoing sung banter that betrays a real mutual admiration society. The only thing missing is, perhaps, a bit of whistling.

Discuss Any Griffith and the folks of Mayberry on The Andy Griffith Show board.  Discuss Brad Paisley and his work on the Talkin' 'bout My Generation's Music board and the CMT website board for Brad Paisley.
