Welcome to my High School Reunion blog! I have never done this before so it should be an interesting ride.
Driving up to the Hawaii house for the Chandler High School Class of ’88 reunion, I was super nervous. I didn’t know if I would be the first or the last person to arrive. Either scenario seemed nerve-racking to me!
I was really excited to see Scott S. since he and I had been good friends in high school. Because I didn’t really like my high school years overall, I wasn’t sure how I would feel towards some of my other classmates. I honestly had not spoken to anyone for 20 years. I had no idea who else would be coming -- and when everyone arrived I could definitely tell that many of them still kept in touch and even knew who else was going to be there.
I knew Tom in high school but didn’t hang out with him. Coming to the show I knew that he and Kara would be there just because they were part of the popular crowd. What I didn’t know was that they had been married! She was the one person I was most looking forward to seeing and I was super-excited when she arrived!
I didn’t really recognize Jessica, Maricela, Shalonda or Heather.
The entire time we were at the reunion house Jessica excluded herself from our group interactions. I personally think she came on the show just to further her career and not to reconnect with the classmates.
OK, so the detention that Scott W. got came out of left field! Because Jenny was so mean to me in high school, it was very ironic to hear HER talk about being teased. That part of the first episode is a bit boring for me to watch.
Tom and Jessica’s hall pass was hilarious to watch. I wasn’t convinced that Tom really wanted to take Jessica. In my opinion he felt pressured to, since she had made it clear that she had a crush on him in high school. I have to admit that Jessica looked beautiful for her date with Tom. Their hot-tub scene is painful to watch, though -- she was trying so hard and it was totally obvious that Tom had no interest in her.
How about the line “I can tell you have been working out”… WOW! When they came back to the house everyone could tell right away that the date didn’t go well. Jessica wasn’t interested in talking to any of us about it -- instead she went to her room, which was something she did most of the time. I didn’t know about what happened to Jessica when she was a teenager until I watched this episode, so it explains a lot about the way that she acted during the reunion. I think had I known that I may have made more of an effort to get to know her.
I didn’t know what to expect when I saw Jenny walk in the door. But I was most shocked because I couldn’t believe that Scott W. would have any issues with Jenny. It was painfully uncomfortable for me when she arrived. You can tell by my face that I was not happy to see her. I wanted to come and have a good time and having her at the reunion was the last thing I wanted. Scott H. telling me to “knee her in the balls” was CLASSIC! I love my friends! She really did talk and talk and talk the whole time! I was absolutely annoyed.
There is a ton of drama coming up in the next few weeks of High School Reunion. Just you wait.
